Reviews - What do customers think about Read and Share Bible?
 | love it Feb 25, 2010 |
| This hardcover bibel is great for preschoolers. It included 120 bibles story that they will enjoy. The stories are short and have beautiful full color illustrations on each page. I would recommend this to parents for childrens ages 2-5. They will enjoy hearning about the bible. They also will enjoy just sitting down and looking though the pages for a quiet time of their own. The hardcover is a great feature, it will withstand some rough treatment from toddlers. | | | | Read and Share Bible Dec 22, 2009 |
| This is a hardcover children's version of the Bible stories. The pictures are large and very colorful. The stories are short and easy to read. My daughter is 6 and she loves to read this book before bed. | | | | Nice Bible Dec 3, 2009 |
| I'm a 1st Grade CCD teacher and needed a child-friendly Bible to read to the kids. I really like this one because the pictures are wonderful and the text is very age appropriate. I also like that the stories are short and to the point, and also build off of one another. I know I hit a home run with the book because the children remain focused during readings in class. | | | | Very SIMPLE re-tellings of GREAT bible stories ... Oct 15, 2009 |
| My two little boys really liked the stories and pictures and they even have requested to read some stories "again." :) The stories are greatly simplified and very short. To some, they may be oversimplified and too short. But for us, the stories were enough to provoke questions and allow for further discussion after reading the stories (hence the read and share). This is a nice introduction to bible stories. The illustrations are also cute. | | | | Very Good Resource for Parents Oct 12, 2009 |
The Read and Share Bible is a very good resource for parents and others who desire to share and teach the Bible to younger children. Stories from Scripture are summarized in two pages, complete with some colorful illustrations. Each story also has a discussion question for the reader to interact with the child as they read it, or as the child reads it himself.
Some positives: It clearly ties each story to specific Bible verses, so that the child and/or the parents can reference those for more information. Hopefully, it will eventually lead to the child learning to read an actual Bible on their own. I also appreciated how the stories are done in Biblical order for the same reason- it will hopefully lead them to move on to the actual Scriptures as they get older and get familiar with these stories. I also appreciated the discussion questions and thoughts at the end of each story.
Two small negatives: A few of the discussions struck me as a little moralistic, rather than grace-centered, but this is by no means true of all of them (and I might be a little picky on that!). Also, this is probably by design, but it does not cover the whole Bible and skips over entire books like Leviticus, Psalms and Proverbs, and most of the minor Prophets (except of course for Jonah). Again, since it is a "story" Bible, this is probably by design. And, if any parents have strong convictions about visual images of Christ, they will want to skip this one, as it does use cartoon figures of Jesus.
Overall, I believe I can recommend it to Christian parents who want an easy way to teach their young children (I'd guess ages 3-6) the stories of the Bible and (hopefully) eventually lead them to the Bible itself. | | | Write your own review about Read and Share Bible
