Item description for Under The Sea (IMAX) [Blue-ray] by Jim Carrey & Howard Hall...
A close-up look at some of exotic undersea locations.
Outline Filmed in IMAX 3D, Under the Sea is a strikingly realistic underwater exploration of the amazing sea life of the coral triangle in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, and the Great Barrier Reef. Viewers instantaneously become divers, immersed in the coral reefs and floating mere inches away from sea life ranging from cuttlefish to venomous sea snakes, nautiluses, sea dragons, and great white sharks. Narrated by a surprisingly sensitive and (mostly) serious Jim Carrey, the film explores everything from how various species use color and pattern changes to communicate to the mating habits of cuttlefish and the symbiotic relationships between sea creatures as varied as the crab and jellyfish. Carrey points out that man's actions have increased the oceans' carbon dioxide levels--a situation which leads to ocean warming and acidification which could potentially upset the symbiotic balance of undersea life and result in dissolving the coral reefs and destroying multiple species of ocean life. The film ends on a hopeful note, declaring that man is beginning to take responsibility for his actions and now possesses the skills to mitigate his effects on the environment and preserve the ocean wonderland. The underwater photography in this film is absolutely stunning and the realism of the 3D format can't be overstated. Viewers of all ages will be mesmerized throughout this 45-minute film and will leave with an important understanding about man's vital role in preserving ocean life. --Tami Horiuchi

Reviews - What do customers think about Under The Sea (IMAX) [Blue-ray]?
 | Stunning Photography May 7, 2010 |
"IMAX Under the Sea" narrated by Jim Carrey is spectacular when seen in Blu-Ray. The color photography is stunning and very vivid. It's a trip. It is photographed mostly along the sea bottom in the coral reefs off New Zealand and in Australia's Great Coral Reef. As usual with these nature films it features a great deal of footage on predators. I guess the moviemakers think that their audiences will be enthralled by seeing predation at work, and of course it is dramatic and exciting to see hunters go at it. There are scenes of cute sea lions cavorting around the bottom, and luckily the producers don't show the predatory feats of the Great White Shark who is shown lurking in the vicinity. The living coral reefs make marvelous visual images. The symbiotic relationships between species are shown when one species relieves another of parasites. Watch out for those cuttle fish with their darting projectiles that grab unwary passers-by. Big schools of fish are shown swarming through the sea as other fish sedately undulate along. This movie is a treasure, and the camera people showed extraordinary skill. It's a rare sight to be able to see the teeming marine life that inhabits the reefs.

| Great technically, but too short in length. Even my short attention span kids were wanting more. Somehow, I still see Jim Carrey making silly faces between narration segments. | | | | 3D SYSTEM information unclear Apr 4, 2010 |
With the coming of the new and superior 3D Frame Sequential HD Bluray system we need a standarized logo for the system used! As for now there are already Bluray disks with the anaglyphic or pulfrich system. Sellers should clearly mention the system used, as we don't want those inferior systems when having the brandnew setup, don't we? How on earth can we know what we buy with these incomplete specifications? By the way; I rate this product as far as I know the original, as I must rate it to write these lines. If it's in Field Sequential HD3D then it'll be a 4 star (or 5) indeed! | | | Write your own review about Under The Sea (IMAX) [Blue-ray]
