Reviews - What do customers think about Rebel?
9.4 out of 10 rating from CHHReview.com Jul 2, 2009
Two years after his Sophomore album "After the Music Stops" Lecrae strikes again with his album "Rebel."
The album title refers to the fact that in order to truly be a rebel in today's fallen world, one must do the opposite of what the majority of humanity is doing - for by definition, the term rebel refers to someone who fights against the established ways. In a world marked by sin, the truest form of rebellion is to live a Godly life, chasing after Christ and not after money, sex, drugs, material possessions, etc.
With this premise established, the album sets out to provide anthems to for this new breed of rebels to march to. Like it's title suggests, the song "Don't Waste Your Life" exhorts the listener to pour ones life into the things that truly matter, namely, serving God. If only we could visually see the amount of time that we spend on work, school, and personal pursuits in contrast to the time that we spend serving the LORD. Most of us, myself included, need to flip that ratio around.
Other stand out songs include:
"Identity" - A song that stresses the importance of us finding our identity in Christ and not in our material possessions. Da Truth proves to be a strong guest appearance, and a memorable RNB hook is laid on the track by J.R.
"Live Free" - This is an eclectic song that features an unorthodox beat, and an equally unorthodox rhyme pattern provided by guest Sho Baraka.
The album is also carried by strong songs such as "Rebel (The Intro Track!)", "Indwelling Sin", "Truth", "I'm a Saint", and "Beautiful Feet."
This is a superior album that is absolutely essential to any hip hop fan's collection. It is a worthy follow up to Lecrae's sophomore album "After the Music Stops." Overall, the album has earned a 9.4 out of 10 rating from CHHReview.
Here is a detailed breakdown of the album, where each individual song is rated:

This album is a masterpiece... lecraes' words' pierce the soul....... forget the mainstream hip hop scene... The beats are heartpounding and you can completely listen to the words... Not block them out with all that bling bling talk and B@#$!^* and H!@$ talk... I recomment this to anyone who is searching for spiritual truth and an awakening... God Bless...
Rebel - True to the Message of Christ. Jun 26, 2009
Lecrae's "Rebel" is true to the message of Christ. It touches on every aspect of life and what it means to live for Christ....from praising God's name to songs of repentance. The lyrics will challenge the listener to evaluate his/her own relationship with Christ and to make changes if needed. Each song is different, bold, and full of energy. "Rebel" truly points people to Jesus Christ.
straight rep'n J.C on the block Jun 16, 2009
From track 1 to 15, this CD is poppin, with number 3:go hard, 5:temptations, and 12 and 15 just keep'n it real, and totally pressin the message, and relating with everyday hood struggle. This is my favorite cd, and I bump it continually. This is an anointed lick, and reps Christ to the fullest.
Glory to God.... Jun 10, 2009
From what I understand, this is already the best-selling Christian hip-hop album of all time. I heard about Lecrae a few years back, but after seeing one of his songs on a friend's MySpace page last year, I decided to really check him out. I bought "Rebel" and it instantly became one of my favorite albums. I could listen to "Identity" probably 20 times a day lol. When people are rapping about such a great subject matter as our salvation through Jesus Christ, many seem to run out of things to say or talk about. However, with Lecrae, every song seems very different from another. I guess I'll have to check out his "Real Talk" album because I see a few reviews that said they enjoyed that one better, but I definitely support "Rebel" all the way. A few of my favorites are "Identity", "Indwelling Sin", "Got Paper", "Breathin To Death" and "Beautiful Feet"
