| My homeschooling child has just finished studying Mystery of History Volume3 and has had a great year treking through history. This volume is very visually appealing and I love that it is hardback and therefore, more durable. It offers a broad sweep through history and is very complete. I did not use the companion volume for this volume because all the maps and tests went unused in our previous uses of Vol 1 & 2. | We started with MOH Vol 2 in Aug 2009 & rolled right into MOH Vol 3 at the end of March 2010. Not only is this curriculum comprehensive, I love it's structure. With fun pre-tests, reviews, projects, activities, & crafts; there is so much to choose from for easy customizing..i.e. doing what works for your students & what your students enjoy. I also love that it is applicable to all grade levels. Of course, what really makes me love MOH3 is that my children love it too! Linda Hobar's passion for history is alive on every page. My daughter, 13 at the time, jumped up an down with excitement when we first received our copies. She will tell you that history is her favorite subject and Mystery of History is the reason. Volume 3 is my favorite volume by far!! The color pictures are beautiful, which is one of the reasons the 2 book format was necessary. The book is a work of art in itself. Linda's writing is superb as usual. You feel as though you are transported back in time, getting to know each individual personally, experiencing events as they take place. History comes alive! The activities and suggestions for digging deeper are wonderful, making the volume adaptable for many age levels. We have used Mystery of History all the way through and have learned so much. I have a younger son that has yet to start. I can't wait to begin the journey all over again!!

| This is the third in the Mystery of History series writeen by Hobar. Where the format is different from the previous volumes it is clearly described on the MOH website and anywhere I have seen it sold. The poor review is based on a complaint about a class using this text that obviously did not explain to the parent what to buy. This new Vol3 has beautiful color pictures and is a lovely book to read and teach from. The tests, maps etc that would encumber the book were put into a seperate volume or on a CD that is purchased seperately and will complete the needs of a schooling situation. We have used all 3 volumes and where this one had an increase in cost with 2 parts, it is still an excellent value and superior material for history instruction. The material is arranged to accomodate a family learning experience so all my children can learn together and have activities that are geared to their abilities. | This is the text chosen by my child's homeschooling program. After buying the nearly $60 book, we learn that it doesn't contain the exercises and maps - these are another $40. Volumes 1 & 2 are structured with the text, exercises, and maps.
