Although I agree with approximately 70% of the content, the other 30% overshadowed the positive. My concerns are:
1. There is little mention of mercy and grace.
2. The text is written in a very prideful and arrogant manner.
3. Scripture is often twisted and used out of context to support Mrs. Pearl's opinion.
4. The overarching theme is one of blame.
5. The author uses the book to shamelessly promote her husband's books. It felt like a literary commercial at times.
6. The author presents herself as knowing all there is to know of the male gender.
7. The author presents her thoughts, interpretations and opinions as being the same as God's.
8. A man's moral failings (as a husband and father) are presented as being the fault of his wife.
Be very discerning in reading this book. There are some excellent points made in this text, my concern is the overarching attitude of the book. Be sure to know who you are in CHRIST and His grace before you read this book. | | | | Excellent and BOLD! Jun 1, 2009 |
| This book is a wonderful review of the scriptures and how God says to have a happy marriage. It is counter-cultural and hard to hear, however if anyone doubts its efficacy just TRY IT. Let's be honest, you're either going to like it or you've already made up your mind to hate it. Scripturally speaking, if you have a great marriage, Titus 2 allows you to teach younger women about it. If you're already considering purchasing this book, do. You'll will find many practical tips that could transform your thinking about your role as a wife. Your husband will be blessed. If you are "happy" in your role as a disgruntled, selfish, I-wear-the-pants-in-the-family co-president, this book is not for you...unless, of course, there's something deep down that longs for contentment and fullfilment. Scripture teaches. I don't feel that there was any inaccurate scriptural teaching in this book. Personal style of teaching? She's just a woman, with her own personality, sharing her heart in her own way. She has a glorious marriage, 5 grown children who serve the Lord and rise to call her blessed. Read it and decide for yourself. This was my 6th copy. I keep "loaning" them out to women who need to read it...and never seem to get it back! It's a book you can read in short bits, reread dozens of times and written in a way that will really stick it to you, uh, stick with you.

| I bought my first copy of this book 4 years ago. I have since bought my self another one. My mom one and my best friend one. We have all seen GREAT things happen in our marriages!! So much great advice that I never truely finish reading it! Once I read it through I just start at the begining again. This is a book based around the Bible, but that is exactly what I love about it!! I wish more woman would read this book, this book is deffently something we will have our daughter read when she becomes old enough.
