Publishers Description
In one tragic blow after another, accomplished Christian writer Tim Hudson lost his mother, his close friend, and his two-year-old daughter. Now he's on the brink of losing his faith. Room of Marvels takes readers on a silent spiritual retreat with Tim where he is swept up in a dream vision of heaven and given a guided tour by those he has lost. Reminiscent of the C. S. Lewis classic, The Great Divorce, the book carries a contemporary voice that made Library Journal declare it “a good companion to Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven.” Remarkably, Room of Marvels mirrors author James Bryan Smith's own heart-wrenching season of loss when his mother (Wanda), close friend (“Awesome God” singer Rich Mullins), and two-year-old daughter (Madeline) passed away within months of each other. Updated with a new cover design and epilogue by Smith, the 2007 edition of Room of Marvels will continue to comfort those touched by grief and stir the hunger for heaven in every reader. Endorsements “A delightful fantasy.” —Cecil Murphey, coauthor, 90 Minutes in Heaven “If you've ever felt the sting of death from the loss of one you love, Smith's book will lead you into a warm, inviting room.” —Knight Ridder “One of those profound, special books that only comes along once in awhile.” —InfuzeMag.com |

 | A wonderful little book! Jun 10, 2007 |
"Room of Marvels" Author: James Bryan Smith
I received this book after church today and read in one seating! Not only could I not put in down, I couldn't stop crying -- overwhelmed by the reminder of God's love, overwhelmed by self-reflection, and overwhelmed by the journey through Heaven. This is a novel based on the death of the author's 3 closest people in his life. After struggling with grief and anger, Tim attends a 5 day silent retreat at a monestary which starts his inward journey to understanding his relationship with God. Tim has a dream to deal with love, forgiveness, masks, and control. Wait until you find out the concept of the "room of marvels" in Heaven. It is so awesome!!
I have one copy that needs to go into circulation but we need to get more. We have now bought a total of 16 books as gifts! That is how good this little book is! We hear that there is going to be a new release in the Fall with a new cover. Not sure if that is true or not!

| I lost my 7 month old son 2 1/2 months ago, and it is the deepest pain I have ever felt. Much like Tim's daughter, Madison, in this book, my son died from a chromosomal abnormality and a severe heart defect. Out of reading at least 7 or 8 books on grieving, this is the only one that has kept me going. Tim's feelings that he describes in the beginning are so real, and unlike the other books I've read, he doesn't have grief "all figured out". I am currently reading it for the second time, and love it just as much as I did initially. I will probably read it every year for the rest of my life. Anyone who has lost a loved one should read this book. | | | | Enjoyed It Jan 16, 2007 |
| I thought the book was very well written and thought provoking. It is, however, very similar to Mitch Albom's book The Five People You Meet in Heaven. Not sure which I liked better. Having read both, it is interesting to see how the different authors view heaven. | | | | Room of Marvels Nov 7, 2006 |
| Excellent, uplifting, inspiring. Great for those grieving over the loss of a loved one or just wanting a glimps of what may be in eternity. | | | | A Must Read Nov 23, 2004 |
| James Smith writes this book for anyone who is sturggling with the death of a beloved. It takes what could be a difficult concept and presents it in an incredibly familiar venue, a dream. He shows that everything in life happens for a purpose and when we get out of our own way and allow God to be in charge, there is no end to what we can comprehend, accept, and move past. For those who are slow learners, he gives more than one example in the dream of how we start slowly and build on upon our understanding until we finally get it. | | | Write your own review about Room Of Marvels (New)
